FIJET History

The World Federation of Journalists and Travel Writers known as FIJET was funded I Paris, France on the second of December of 1954. Here we are 68 yearslater we continue promoting Tourism around the World through professionals that actively participate and communicate tourism.

As of today, FIJET is made up of an approximate of 700 members, 30 National Associations and individual members in countries where is no constituted association.

FIJET is affiliated with UNWTO. It is Member -B to UNESCO. Member of the International Tourism Council before the United Nations. Member of the Mediterranean Foundation.

FIJET, the Lyon, France based organization, holds a tourism congress every year in different parts of the world. It also holds several executive committee meetings where all members are welcome.   

In addition, FIJET awards an annual award called the Golden Apple to the most relevant and outstanding site within tourism.

 

La Pomme d'Or" or "The Golden Apple" is the FIJET equivalent of the Oscar. This award for excellence is presented each year to an organization, country, city, or person in recognition of superior efforts in promoting and raising the level of tourism.

it was established in 1970, The FIJET Golden Apple Award has been presented to 43 recipients.

Among the activities of FIJET International is the celebration of an annual Congress and various meetings of the Executive Committee to be held in different countries, the 'Young Journalists Program', the award for effort in tourism promotion called "Pomme d'Or or Golden Apple", the   official publication 'Vue Touristique' and the Progdigital one:  ww.fijet.net.

FIJET International recognizes three official languages, French, English, and Spanish. All official meetings and events are held in English. FIJET International maintains its international office in Lyon, France and does not comment on political matters.
